Protestors detained, protestors prevented from protesting, protestors arrested, innocent people detained, removal of the right to protest, removal of the right to free speech: “Taking Liberties” is a shocking film that exposes just how far down the road to dictatorship the United Kingdom has gone. An argument that I completely fall into line with following my arrest in 2005 under Section 5 of the Public Order Act; after I was found to be handing out leaflets that opposed mass immigration and refused to stop doing so. Inevitably I wasn’t charged or convicted, but I was handcuffed, detained for seven hours, interviewed, bailed and re-bailed a total of three times. Furthermore, my fingerprints and DNA are now held on a permanent government database alongside many other victims of our so called democracy.
“Taking Liberties” is an essential in this modern world; enabling the people to realise just what it is the British government has done to it’s people in a clearly argued and effective manner. Quite simply, after watching this you will never be able to deny the erosion of our civil liberties again.
